Had a buddy tell me my comic collection was an 'unreadable mess' - here's what I changed

So about 8 months ago, a guy at the local shop looked at my long boxes and just laughed. He said I had the worst organization he'd ever seen, like mixing Golden Age with Image stuff in the same box. I got annoyed at first but then I looked at my own setup. I had 90s X-Men next to random Spawn issues, nothing alphabetical or by publisher. Took me a whole Sunday to sort everything by publisher, then title, then issue number. Now I can find my Uncanny X-Men #266 in about 15 seconds flat instead of digging through three boxes. Felt like a dummy for not doing it sooner, but hey, better late than never. Has anyone else had a collector call them out on something obvious like that?

Last Friday at my local game store three people argued for 20 minutes about whether Monopoly is actually a good game

I was just trying to grab a copy of Wingspan when this group at the table next to me got into it. One guy kept saying Monopoly is a classic that teaches real money skills. The other two were calling it broken and boring. The store owner finally came over and told them to either buy something or take it outside. Has anyone else noticed how heated board game arguments get over the dumbest games?

New vacuum sealer almost RUINED a whole batch of dry-aged ribeyes

I tried one of those chamber-style sealers for the first time last week and it sucked ALL the moisture out of my steaks before I even noticed - turned 8 prime cuts into leather in under 3 minutes. Anyone else had a machine pull too hard of a vacuum on aged meat?

Tried hiding a pi cam in a fake rock, my neighbor's dog dug it up 3 hours later

Buried it in my front garden bed near the mailbox and that golden retriever from two doors down brought it straight to my porch like it was a chew toy. The lens was covered in slobber and the SD card got bent, anyone else’s pets wreck your gear?

Spent $180 on a fiber cleaver on Amazon and it couldn't cut butter

Needed a replacement fast after my old one took a dive off a ladder. Saw this no-name brand with decent reviews. Big mistake. First cut left a jagged edge that looked like a zigzag. Second cut shattered the fiber. Third try the blade chipped. Sent it back same day. Anybody got a go-to cleaver under $200 that actually works more than once?

Stumbled on an old stat about password length that blew my mind

I was digging through some old cybersecurity forums last night, you know the ones from like 2005, and I found a post where a sysadmin said his company required passwords to be exactly 8 characters with symbols and numbers. That was the standard back then I guess. But get this, he said they never had a single breach in 10 years with that setup. Now I look at my bank and they want 16 characters plus two factor, and I still get alerts about suspicious logins. Makes me wonder if we are overcomplicating things or if the bad guys just got way better. What kind of password rules does your job use now?

Called my bank and got them to stop selling my data last Tuesday

Honestly, I was on hold for like 20 minutes but the guy actually knew what I was talking about. He walked me through the opt out form for their third party sharing program and I submitted it right there. Ngl, I felt a little paranoid doing it but then I checked my spam folder yesterday and it was down to like 6 emails instead of 30. Has anyone else noticed a real difference after doing this with their bank?

That $8 bone folder I used for 5 years was actually a scoring tool for paper crafts, not bookbinding.

A guy at a bindery workshop in Portland last month showed me his proper bone folder and I felt like an idiot when he pointed out the rounded edge on mine was meant for creasing greeting cards, has anyone else been using the wrong tool without knowing it?

When my Instagram post got flagged for 'violence' and it was a photo of my cat batting at a toy mouse

It happened last Tuesday around 2pm. I uploaded a perfectly harmless picture of my orange tabby, Chester, swatting at a little blue plush mouse on the living room rug. Three hours later, Instagram sent me a notice saying the post violated their community guidelines on violent content. I had to submit an appeal and explain that it was a 12 year old cat playing with a fabric toy. The appeal went through the next morning, but it still makes me wonder how an automated system can be that off base. Has anyone else had a completely innocent photo flagged for something bizarre?
