Vendor app crashed at a festival, cash saved my lunch

I was at the Maple Street Market in Portland last Saturday, phone dead and my only card was on a broken reader. The taco guy laughed and said 'cash or nothing,' so I dug out the $20 I keep for emergencies. Anyone else keep a cash stash just for when the payment network goes down?

Ended up in the same boat at a food truck rally in Denver last year. The square reader was down for everyone and the only guy who took cards was the lemonade stand. Now I always keep a crumpled $50 in my phone case, saved me more than once.
