Shoutout to the mechanic who talked me out of a $2,400 transmission swap
My 2012 Honda needed a new transmission last month. The dealer quoted me $2,400 for a rebuild. I called a local shop in Akron and the mechanic asked to drive it first. He took it out for 10 minutes and came back saying it just needed a $90 sensor. I picked the shop over the dealer and it's been running fine for 3 weeks now. Has anyone else dodged a huge repair bill by getting a second opinion?

Man that dealer was trying to take you for a ride! Same thing happened with my old Ford, shop charged me $40 for a relay swap instead of the $1,200 alternator the dealership insisted it needed.

Yo @wade250 definitely been there myself. On my old truck I had a check engine light and the dealer quoted me almost $600 for a new fuel pump. I ended up taking it to a local shop I trust and they found it was just a loose wire on the fuel pump relay. Cost me like 50 bucks total for them to clean the connection and tighten it up. Sometimes those dealership guys just throw parts at stuff without actually looking first.
