Rant: That moment you realize your dish alignment has been off for 8 months
I was troubleshooting a weak signal on my C-band setup last Tuesday (in my backyard near Phoenix) and finally decided to triple check my elevation angle. Turns out I had it 3 degrees off because I used a bubble level that wasn't calibrated - been missing half the free channels this whole time. Anybody else have a simple setup mistake screw them over for way longer than they want to admit?

Oh man, 3 degrees off for 8 months? That's brutal. I once spent six months wondering why my Ku band was fuzzy until I realized I'd pointed the dish at a palm tree instead of the satellite. Didn't even notice because the tree was tall enough to catch the signal on a windy day.

Whoa, hold on. @riverh49, are you sure you weren't just being too harsh on yourself? I mean, if the picture was fuzzy but still watchable for all that time, maybe it wasn't as bad as you think. Lots of setups have a little wobble or fuzz in the Ku band because of weather or trees anyway. You probably just had a slightly weak signal that nobody else would've even noticed.

Dish pointing at a palm tree" is hilarious... I'd probably do the same thing honestly.
