Went with solid aluminum dish over mesh for my build. Regretting it now.

Picked a 75cm solid aluminum dish because I thought mesh would flex too much in wind. Installed it on my roof 3 months ago. Wind load is brutal. Had to reinforce the mount twice. My neighbor used a mesh dish and his signal is just as stable. Plus his mount is way simpler. Wish I'd just gone mesh from the start. Anyone else make the solid vs mesh choice and switch later?

Lol man I feel your pain. I did the exact same thing with my first dish, went solid aluminum thinking I was being smart. Turned out I was just making my life harder for no reason. My mount was a disaster after the first storm, had to weld extra braces on it like I was building a bridge. Meanwhile my buddy with a mesh dish is just chilling watching his signal stay perfect. I finally swapped to mesh last month and felt like an idiot for not doing it sooner. The wind just goes right through it and I didn't have to beef up anything. Solid dishes are for people who hate their weekend plans I guess.

I used to think solid was better too, but this makes me reconsider.

@emeryj66 I get that, I almost went solid too. I went with a 90cm mesh dish and bolted it straight to the wall with a simple bracket. No flex issues even in heavy storms and the signal holds steady. I figure if I ever need to swap or adjust it, it'll be way less of a headache than wrestling a solid one. What finally pushed you to reconsider?
