Tried gorilla tape vs duct tape on my lawn chair rip. Gorilla lost.

My webbed lawn chair got a tear last week. Fixed it with gorilla tape first. Three days later it peeled off in the sun. Switched to plain old duct tape and it's been holding for a week now. Why does the fancy stuff fail so bad? Anyone else have a tape that surprised you?

Was your chair sitting in direct sun when the gorilla tape failed? Because I swear that stuff melts in heat, it's like it was designed for indoor use only.

High end stuff usually means more complicated, and complicated breaks faster, simple wins.

And ironically, sometimes "high end" means they use material that's actually more finicky (like that gorilla tape needing perfectly clean surfaces and no UV exposure) so you end up with a finicky product that can't handle real life.
