My town still bans washing cars on Sundays since 1954

Grew up in a small suburb outside of Portland, OR and found out last month there's still a local ordinance from 1954 that makes it illegal to wash your own car on a Sunday. The fine is $50 and apparently someone actually got a ticket for it in 2019 when a neighbor reported them. Has anyone else found a dated law like this that's still technically enforced in their area?

Guess God took the day off from car washing so we better not either, huh?

Honestly I get what you're going for here but I see it a bit different. God doesn't really need to wash cars so comparing that to a day off doesn't quite line up. Rain is just weather doing its thing not some divine sign to skip out on basic chores. If that logic held up we'd never mow lawns either since the sun doesn't schedule itself around our weekends. Ngl I just see it as a chance to give the car a quick wipe down after the rain passes.

Man that's a wild take. So are you saying we should skip washing our cars until God does it first?
