Showerthought: My town still has a law saying you can't walk a lion down Main Street
I was reading through old city ordinances online last Tuesday and stumbled on a rule from 1923 that bans walking a lion without a muzzle on Main Street. It's still technically on the books, and my buddy at city hall confirmed nobody's ever bothered to repeal it. Has anyone else found a law that's just sitting there from a hundred years ago that makes no sense today?

That lion law is like half the stuff we just accept without thinking - we still act like you gotta be in a certain lane to turn left even when nobody's coming. It's just people never bothering to update the rules we all know are outdated.

we still act like you gotta be in a certain lane to turn left even when nobody's coming" - man that's so true. My buddy Mark got t-boned last year because he was sitting in the left lane waiting to turn and some guy in a truck just blew through the intersection. The truck driver got cited even though Mark was the one in the wrong lane technically. The cop literally said "everyone does it but it's still illegal technically." Mark's insurance took forever to sort out because of that outdated rule. It's crazy how we all know the rule is dumb but nobody wants to be the one to actually challenge it in court or something.

Gotta respectfully disagree though. Some of those old laws are dumb sure, but the left lane thing is actually about safety. It's not just some random rule nobody bothered to update, it's there because people used to get killed not following it. Your buddy got lucky he didn't cause a worse wreck.
