Had a guy at the auto parts store tell me my alternator was fine when I swore it was dying
I was about to drop $200 on a new one but he grabbed a multimeter, tested it in the parking lot, and showed me the voltage was normal - turned out it was just a loose belt. Has anyone else had a random stranger save them from wasting money like that?
That mechanic basically saved you a whole paycheck and gave you a free lesson. I half expect he winked and said "you owe me one" before driving off in a lifted truck.
