Learned the hard way about cheap fence post caps
I bought 50 plastic post caps from a big box store for about $40 last spring. By August, half of them had cracked and fallen off from the sun. I spent another Saturday replacing them all with metal ones that cost me $3 each this time. That $40 lesson taught me to just spend the extra money upfront on fence parts that face the weather. Anybody else get burned by plastic fence parts that don't hold up?

Man, I used to be all about saving a buck on stuff like that too. I figured plastic was plastic and it'd hold up fine, but seeing your post makes me realize I was wrong. Definitely gonna go with metal from now on after hearing how fast those caps failed.

Wait, fast? How fast are we talking here? Like a few months or a couple of years? I've been using the same plastic caps on my setup for like three years now and they're still holding up, but maybe I just got lucky or something. Makes me wonder if I should start checking them more often before they suddenly give out. That's wild if they're really failing that quick on people.

Fast" as in three years? That's still holding up fine in my book.
