My first batch of kombucha finally bubbled after 3 failed attempts
Tried brewing kombucha for the first time last month and killed my SCOBY twice. Third time was last week and I finally saw those tiny bubbles forming on day 5. Used a heating mat from Amazon (20 bucks) and kept it at a steady 78 degrees in my closet. Got a nice tart taste on day 8 and bottled it with some ginger from my garden. Anyone else struggle with getting the right temperature for their first batch?

Day 5" and you already saw bubbles? That's pretty wild. My first batch took two weeks to do anything and I was checking it like a crazy person. Three failed attempts is rough though, glad that heating mat finally got you there.

Three failed attempts before this one? Man, that's dedication right there. Bet you were ready to quit after number two.

Yeah I used to think people were making a big deal out of nothing with the heating mat stuff. Figured room temp was fine and patience was the only thing that mattered. Watching three batches rot on me changed that real quick. Got a cheap mat off Amazon for like 20 bucks and suddenly things started moving. Hard to argue with results when you can physically see the difference.

Three failed attempts" and you still kept going? That's not dedication, that's pure stubbornness. I probably would've thrown the whole setup out the window after batch number two and ordered pizza.
