Had issues with vinyl plank installation? Using a tapping block from leftover material saved my knuckles.

Ngl, "saved my knuckles" sounds over the top. A proper mallet works better and won't crack the planks.

What kind of mallet are you talking about, @ivan_murphy80? A rubber one, or a dead blow? I've seen a rubber mallet still leave marks on some woods.

Cutting a scrap piece of flooring to use as a block was my go-to. Just used it with a rubber mallet and it kept everything from getting dented.

Disagree on the mallet being the only good way. I've installed floors in my own house and for friends, and a scrap piece with a regular hammer works just fine if you know how to hit it. You get a feel for the right amount of force so you don't crack anything. A tapping block from leftover material is free and it does exactly what you need it to do.
