Just realized my biggest project in Denver fell through right after I quit my day job

I was at my kitchen table when the email came, and I had to call 5 old contacts that afternoon to find any work. Has anyone else had a major contract vanish and had to scramble fast?

Oh man, "had to scramble fast" is my middle name. I once celebrated a huge deal over fancy coffee, only to have the client ghost me before the foam settled. I spent that weekend refreshing my email like a crazy person and texting anyone I'd ever met about freelance gigs. It's a special kind of panic.

Honestly grant478, that panic feels over the top sometimes. Freelance work comes and goes, so one lost deal isn't the end of the world. Tbh you just gotta roll with the punches and find the next thing.

Yeah, that email refresh spiral is too real. I once lost a big client right after buying new software for their project (talk about bad timing). Had to eat that cost and it stung for a while.

That kitchen table email dread is the worst. I had a similar thing happen and just started calling people I hadn't talked to in years, like my old college roommate. Ended up with a few small website fixes that bought me a month to breathe.
