Changed my mind about universal basic income after seeing the new automation numbers

I was totally against it, thinking it would kill work ethic. Then I saw the report from the Brookings Institution predicting 25% of current jobs could be automated within 10 years. Now I'm convinced we'll need a floor just to avoid total collapse. Anyone else flip on this after seeing specific data?

Wait, only 25 percent in a whole decade?

Man, it's wild. I see self-checkouts and order kiosks everywhere now, feels like it's already happening. That report just puts a number to the vibe shift.

Guess I’ll be signing up for that free money after my robot replacement shows up.

Read an article about truck drivers last week that really stuck with me. It said automation in shipping could hit them hard and fast. That report you mentioned makes it feel less like a maybe and more like a when. We have to talk about what happens to people in those jobs, not just the numbers.
