My sleep tracker experiment left me with more questions than answers.

On one hand, the data can guide better sleep habits; on the other, it might lead to unnecessary stress. Where do you stand on sleep trackers?

Yeah but like, how bad is it really? Most people just check the number in the morning and forget about it. The whole sleep score stress seems like a problem for a very small group of people who were already worried about things. For the rest of us, it's just a neat graph that sometimes explains why you feel tired.

Sleeping is kinda the most basic human thing ever lol. All that data just makes you forget how to actually rest.

Ever try to use a sleep tracker? You end up staring at the heart rate graph all night, stressed about your "sleep score" instead of just closing your eyes. It's like @ward.kim said, the data totally messes with your head. You start chasing perfect sleep stages like it's a video game. Then you're more tired from worrying about rest than from actually being awake.

My buddy got so obsessed with his sleep score he started taking naps just to boost his average. The whole point is to feel rested, not to win a high score. I check mine maybe once a week for trends, like if I've been drinking caffeine too late. If you're looking at the graph more than you're actually sleeping, you've already lost. The tool should work for you, not the other way around. Toss the phone across the room and just close your eyes.
