Finally caved and got a dumb coffee maker after my smart one kept crashing at 6am
I was all in on the wifi enabled brewer until it froze mid-cycle three mornings in a row. Picked up a simple $30 Mr. Coffee from Target and honestly I don't miss the app at all. Has anyone else just gone back to basics on kitchen gadgets?

My $400 smart brewer gave me a notification that it was "experiencing an existential crisis" before it bricked itself for good. Now I'm using a $15 thrift store percolator that's probably older than me and it's never once asked me to update its firmware. Idk maybe the real smart appliance was the one that knew when to just boil water and shut up.

That "experiencing an existential crisis" notification is wild, but honestly I've seen the same thing with smart appliances that just completely lock up after a pointless update. You gotta just unplug that thing and go back to basics, the old percolator won't ever let you down.

Smart one kept crashing at 6am" is all I needed to hear. Mine would freeze and then drip cold water everywhere. You picked a good one with the Mr. Coffee. Those old school brewers just work.
