Saw a $50 bill taped to a park bench at noon in Denver...

By the time I walked back from grabbing coffee 5 minutes later, someone had already snagged it. How fast do you guys usually move on these finds?

Feel for you, man. Same thing happened to me last month near Union Station, saw a $20 bill flapping under a bench, turned around to untangle my dog's leash, and poof, gone. Bet some guy on a bike just scooped it up without even slowing down. Coffee makes the sting a little less sharp though, right? Hope yours was hot and strong. At least you didn't have to watch someone pick it up right in front of you, that's the real gut punch.

A buddy of mine left his wallet on a park bench in Boulder for maybe two minutes while he tied his shoe and it was gone, someone actually saw a guy grab it and just casually walk away like it was his. Did you check the lost and found at Union Station or just assume it was toast?

Actually, I gotta push back on the "5 minutes later" part a little. You said you walked back from grabbing coffee in 5 minutes, but that's just how long you were gone. The person who took it could have been watching the bench the whole time and grabbed it the second you turned the corner. In a busy city like Denver at noon, that cash was gone in maybe 30 seconds flat, not 5 minutes. So your timing was probably a lot less of a factor than people think. Did you at least get a good coffee out of it?
