Leaving streaming charts behind helped me find cool indie bands

I was bored with the same songs popping up on all the big streaming apps. So I started to look at Bandcamp pages and follow artist links instead. This habit let me hear music that does not get played on regular radio or playlists. I found a group from my town called The Quiet Noise, and their lo-fi style is really fresh. Now I go to more local shows because I know the bands from online. It feels good to help small artists by buying their music directly. Trying this out might open up new sounds for you too.

Funny enough, I was all about that algorithm life too. Actually digging a little deeper showed me way better stuff than any app ever has. Now my favorite tracks are mostly from bands I found myself.

Algorithms worked fine until they learned my bad taste.

But streaming is way more convenient. The apps suggest new tunes without all the digging. Local gigs can be hit or miss anyway.

Have you ever just let a record store clerk pick something for you? I leaned on streaming for years, but grabbing a random tape from a bin last summer led me to this psychedelic surf rock duo... now I've seen them live three times. That lucky find feels more personal than any app ever could.
