Old neighbor changed my mind about TV-free evenings

I used to think cutting screens meant sitting in total silence, which sounded awful. Then my neighbor Frank, who is 72 and lives on Maple Street, invited me over to watch him restore a 1950s radio. He didn't say much, just handed me a wire and showed me how to solder, and I realized how good it felt to focus on something real with my hands instead of just staring at a screen. Has anyone else had a face-to-face moment that flipped how they see this whole offline thing?

Grab a puzzle or a model kit and just do it next to someone while you talk. Hands busy, brain off the screen, it clicks way faster than just sitting there staring at each other.

Oh come on, is it really that deep? I mean, I get the idea of doing something with your hands while you talk, that part makes sense. But calling it "clicks way faster" like it's some kind of life hack for every conversation feels a little dramatic. Sometimes you just want to sit down and actually look at the person, you know, without having a jigsaw puzzle or a plastic airplane between you. And what if the other person doesn't want to build a model kit? Then you're just stuck awkwardly gluing a wing while they stare at you.
