Can we talk about why tracked UTVs are overrated for winter riding?
I tried swapping my wheels for tracks last December up in the UP near Houghton. Paid $4,200 for a set of Camso tracks after everyone swore they were the only way to go. After three weekends of fighting them on packed trails and losing steering feel, I went back to studded tires. They corner way better and I didn't get stuck any more than before. Anyone else find tracks to be more hype than help?

@logan561 tracks are great if you enjoy paying $4k to steer like a drunk snowmobile.

Man I feel your pain. I ran Camso tracks on a 2019 Outlander two winters ago and gave up after the second trip. That dead steering feeling on hardpack was scary, like the front end was just sliding wherever it wanted. Studded tires with 1/2 inch screws work way better on the trails near my place in Minnesota. Tracks are only good if you're breaking trail in deep powder, and even then they're a pain to install.

Ha! Sounds like you and I have been down the same snowy road, @logan561. I tried a set of those Camso tracks on a buddy's Polaris a few years back, and I swear the steering felt like I was pushing a shopping cart with a wobbly wheel on ice. We ended up spending more time winching the thing out of deep snow than actually riding it. I'll take a good set of studded tires any day, at least you can feel the machine working.
