TIL you can hold the spacebar to stop autocorrect from changing words on iOS

Was typing a reply earlier and kept fighting my phone turning 'saw' into 'was' and other garbage. Got fed up and just held the spacebar down out of frustration. Turns out it brings up a cursor mode where you can jump around. Then I noticed if you tap and hold the actual word itself, it gives you the option to go back to what you typed. No more retyping everything five times. Has anyone else stumbled onto this by accident?

Actually I gotta disagree a bit here. I've known about holding to move the cursor for a while but the holding the word trick is kind of hit or miss for me. Sometimes it shows the original word option, other times it just selects the whole sentence or does nothing. And @nathan100 with the period double tap thing yeah that's been around forever but it's not really a hidden feature since it tells you in settings. The real game changer nobody talks about is just turning autocorrect off completely. I did that a year ago and my typing got way better even with the typs because at least theyre my mistakes not the phones random guesses. Now I just use swipe typing for everything and it remembers what I actually say. The spacebar cursor thing is useful though, especially for those times you need to drop in one letter.

Three years and I just found out pressing the period twice makes a period.
