My buddy's AI art looked way too clean so I asked what he did
He told me he runs every generation through a noise filter twice to rough it up and add texture. Tried it on my latest piece and suddenly it didn't look like soulless plastic anymore.

Tbh that's a genius trick and I'm honestly mad I didn't think of it sooner. Ngl I've been doing something similar ever since I started noticing my AI stuff had that weird waxy sheen. Ran a piece through a heavy grain filter and then a slight blur to knock down the sharp edges and it finally looked like an actual painting instead of a video game screenshot. The noise filter thing really is the secret sauce, it breaks up all that perfect smoothness that screams machine made.

Wait, you actually want the grain on purpose? That's wild...

Wait, you're telling me he actually runs it through TWICE? That's insane. I've been doing one pass with a light grain and calling it done, but double filtering sounds like it would turn it into straight up sandpaper. I can't even imagine what that looks like on something like a portrait, where you're trying to keep skin soft but not plastic. That must be a nightmare for the eyes after a while. Honestly I'm a little scared to try it but also super curious now.
