My old art teacher saw AI art at a gallery in Santa Fe and just said 'huh'
Went to visit my old art teacher last month. He dragged me to a small gallery in Santa Fe where two AI pieces were hanging. He stared at one for a long time, then just said 'huh' and walked to the next wall. Twenty years ago he spent a whole class showing me how to mix greens by hand. I still can't tell if that 'huh' was respect or a goodbye. What would you have asked him?
A single "huh" from an art teacher could just be him being tired, not some deep statement about the end of art. The guy spent decades mixing greens by hand, of course a machine-made piece won't get a big reaction out of him. Maybe he was actually impressed and just didn't feel like talking about it in a gallery. Why not just ask him straight up what he was thinking instead of reading into one word?
