That $85 AI meeting recorder subscription burned me bad this month

I signed up for one of those AI meeting note takers back in March. Paid $85 for the yearly plan after the free trial felt amazing. Turns out the free trial only works when you have perfect audio. My team meets in a noisy coffee shop in Portland every Friday. It kept missing who said what. I ended up re-listening to three hours of recordings and typing notes myself anyway. The AI summary was just buzzwords strung together. Canceled it yesterday. Has anyone found a budget tool that actually handles background noise, or should I just stick to a notebook?

Funny you mention coffee shop noise. Back in the old days I had this digital voice recorder for interviews, cost like forty bucks. Thing would pick up every spoon clink and chair scrape but drop the person talking right next to it. One time I recorded my buddy's band practice to hear a riff again, and the playback was just cymbals and someone yelling about tacos. Ended up writing the music down from memory and it was better anyway. So yeah, notebook might honestly be the move. Your brain still does the filtering for free.
