I used to just shake my basket halfway through cooking

Got tired of soggy fries so last month I started pulling the basket out and flipping everything with tongs instead. Now my chicken wings come out crispy on both sides instead of just the top. Anyone else ditch the shake method?

Tongs really are the way to go.

You sure about that, @thomas_sanchez? I've burned my fingers plenty of times through tongs if I'm not careful. Those things don't grip right on slippery meat and then it flips oil everywhere. Spatulas give you way more control for most things, plus you can smash down a burger or scrape off something stuck to the pan. Tongs are fine for salad, maybe, but for cooking I'll take a good spatula nine times out of ten.
