Why does nobody talk about the 4 minute cold start rule for air fryer bacon
I used to throw bacon in a cold air fryer, hit 400, and wonder why the edges burned before the middle cooked. Last month in my kitchen in Boise I tried the other way: preheat 4 minutes, then 350 for 9. Night and day. The preheat crowd acts like it's a religion but nobody explains the actual reason. So what's your number, preheat or cold start?
Honestly my buddy did the cold start thing for months and his bacon always came out sad and chewy in the middle. He finally switched to preheating and now he won't shut up about it, so yeah, there's a real reason behind it.
