Figured out my torque wrench habit was costing me time on the line

I was working a night shift on a 737 at O'Hare last month, swapping out a flap actuator. My lead came over and pointed out I was resetting my Snap-on clicker torque wrench to zero after every single fastener. He said that's for storage, not between bolts, and I was adding like 20 minutes to the job for no reason. I'd been doing it that way since my A&P school in Florida. Anyone else pick up a weird habit in training that you had to unlearn?

Did your instructor actually teach you to do that, or did you just pick it up on your own?

My buddy used to do the same thing with his ratchet straps.

Wait, isn't that how everyone tightens them? I used to just crank mine down super hard until I saw a video about strap damage. @cole549, your buddy might be onto something with that extra wrap method. It really does take the strain off the ratchet itself and makes the whole thing feel more secure. Totally changed how I pack my truck for camping trips now.
