Had a lead A&P at work check my work yesterday
Been 6 months since I got my cert. Working on a Cessna 172 brake line replacement. This old timer named Dave from the Hanger 3 shift walked over, didn't say a word, just watched. Then he just nodded and said "good crush pattern, kid." Made my whole week. Anyone else have a moment like that where a senior mechanic just gave you a nod?

There's an old airframe mechanic I met at a seminar last year who said the same thing about brake line flares. He told me most new guys get the angle wrong or over-torque the fitting, and a senior guy noticing that you did it right is worth more than any test score. Good on Dave for taking the time to speak up instead of just walking past. That kind of feedback keeps you honest.

worth more than any test score" - man that hits hard. I had a similar thing with an old timer on my first year, watched me torque a main gear bolt and just nodded once. That was it. But I still remember that nod six years later. Those little validations from guys who have seen it all stick with you way longer than passing some written exam. It's like they're letting you into the club but you still gotta earn your keep every day.
