Thought I didn't need a borescope until I found metal shavings in an engine
I was working on a Cessna 172 last month at a small shop in Ohio and kept hearing a weird grating sound. My old-school lead said just listen close and feel for it, no fancy tools. After three hours of tearing things apart blind I finally borrowed a cheap borescope from a buddy. Found a pile of metal shavings wedged in a cylinder wall that I never would have spotted with just my eyes. Has anyone else had a simple tool save them a ton of time on a tough diagnosis?
