It was all based on a handshake and his word at the local bank. Now, an algorithm decides your worth without even meeting you, and idk, it feels like we lost something.
Check the training data for those algorithms. Seen old mortgage approval sets used to build new systems. They just baked the old bias into code. The redlining is still there, just automated now.
Yeah but where does it stop? Like if the data itself already has those old patterns baked in, then any system built on it just keeps spinning the same wheel. Scary how something that looks clean on paper can still have all that junk in the trunk.
