That buddy who swore the Norway spiral was a rocket, he nailed it

Back in 2009 my friend Mike kept saying the Norway spiral was just a failed Russian missile test, not some portal opening. I argued with him for like two hours, insisting it had to be something wilder. Turns out he was 100% right, the Russians admitted it later. Now every time I see some crazy sky footage I just ask Mike first before I get excited. Anyone else have a friend who's annoyingly good at debunking this stuff?

but honestly i see it the other way. i mean yes, the russian rocket thing checks out, we know that now. but the lesson isnt that mike is some genius who sees through everything. its that once in a while the boring answer is right, and people like mike get to gloat forever about it. the vibe of your post kind of makes it sound like we should all stop being curious and just accept the first logical explanation for everything. that would suck, honestly. half the fun of watching weird sky stuff is the wondering, even if you end up wrong. and for every mike who nails it, there are ten guys who were dead certain about something and it turned out to be a weather balloon or a planet. so yeah, your buddy was right that one time, but that doesnt make him the oracle of the atmosphere.
