Appreciation post: Found a wild anime fact on a random blog

I was reading an old fan blog from 2006 and found out the original Japanese run of 'Neon Genesis Evangelion' only had a 4.0% TV rating when it started. I always thought it was a huge hit right away. Where do you guys find your cool anime trivia?

Check the ratings for its reruns though, they tell a different story.

Totally agree. Saw the reruns on cable last year and they still pulled solid numbers for a late night slot. My roommate who never saw the original run got hooked on those episodes.

The 11pm reruns on Channel 56 still get a 0.8 share, which is pretty wild for syndication. That's the kind of staying power @evahenderson doesn't get from just looking at old numbers. New viewers find it because the writing holds up, not out of nostalgia. My little cousin binged the whole series last summer and now quotes it all the time. Shows like that just stick around.
