I was working on a summer dress design for weeks, using this heavy cotton twill I bought in Austin. My friend saw my sketches and just said, 'That looks hot, like literally hot to wear.' It hit me that I kept picking fabrics for how they looked in a swatch, not how they'd feel on a body in real heat. I switched to a light linen blend and the whole design made sense. Just realized I was cleaning shutter blades wrong for a decade

I used to use a cotton swab and lighter fluid on every old SLR that came into my shop in Portland. About two years ago, a tech from a big repair house in Chicago showed me his method with a soft artist's brush and a tiny bit of ROR cleaner. My old sourdough starter was a whole different beast

Back in the day, I kept my starter in a crock on the counter and fed it with whatever white flour I had, which made it pretty unpredictable (sometimes it would take 12 hours to rise).
