Warning: stop using WD-40 on dryer drum rollers
Ngl I've pulled apart at least 30 dryers this year where someone sprayed WD-40 on the drum rollers thinking it would fix a squeak. Problem is that stuff doesn't have any real lubricant properties for nylon parts and actually attracts lint like crazy. Had a call last week in Portland where the rollers were so gummed up the belt had basically welded itself to the drum. You're better off spending the $8 on proper lithium grease at Home Depot. Anyone else see this mistake all the time?

Belt actually welded to the drum? Never heard of that before, damn.

My buddy had an old dryer where the belt basically melted into the drum from years of heat and no maintenance. It still spun fine until he tried to pull the drum out and it ripped a chunk off the belt track. Now he's got a 150 dollar service call and a part that's probably discontinued. For real how many of us are actually gonna wear out a belt to that point before replacing the whole machine anyway?

Gotta call you out on the lithium grease thing though. Lithium grease is great for metal parts but it'll break down nylon rollers just as fast as WD-40 will if you use the wrong type. For those drum rollers you want a silicone based lubricant or just replace the damn things they're like 8 bucks for a pair on Amazon. Learned that the hard way when I turned a set of rollers into gooey mush last year.
