Was sure cold welding was a scam, tried it on a fridge line anyway
Customer had a pinhole leak in a copper line behind the freezer, no access to solder. I'd read about cold weld compound but figured it was for hobby guys, not real repairs. Slapped it on after draining and prepping the area, let it cure overnight per the instructions. Next morning I ran pressure at 150 psi for 15 minutes and it held. That was 8 weeks ago and it's still dry. Has anyone else used this stuff on a permanent fix, or do you always treat it as a temp patch?

Read a few HVAC forums before trying it myself, and the guys there mostly said it's a gamble but can work if the surface is clean and dry. Your prep seems like the key part, most failures I've seen came from people slapping it on a wet or oily line. I'd still check it every few months with a leak detector, but sounds like you got a solid fix honestly.
