Worst week in a while - three dryers back to back
Last Tuesday I got called to this house in Franklin for a dryer that wouldn't heat. Turned out the thermal fuse was blown, easy fix. Then Wednesday I had another dryer with the same issue but the customer had already replaced the thermal fuse twice themselves and fried the board. Thursday I walk into a basement in Oak Creek and find a dryer that's been running for 16 years with zero maintenance. The drum seal had basically turned to dust and the belt was held together with electrical tape. Has anyone else had a string of the same appliance like that or just me?

That "three dryers back to back" thing reminds me of how life just groups stuff together for no reason. It's like when you're at the grocery store and you see the same guy in three different aisles. Or when you hear the same song twice in one hour on different stations. I swear appliances talk to each other when we're not looking, like, "Alright everyone, malfunction in three, two, one." But honestly it's probably just our brains being wired to notice patterns when there really aren't any. You fix one dryer and suddenly every other call is the same problem because that's what you're looking for now. It's like buying a red car and then seeing red cars everywhere.

Is that the Baader-Meinhof thing? I read about that once, it's called frequency illusion or something like that. Your brain gets primed to notice something and then you see it everywhere because you're actually looking for it now. It's funny how our minds trick us into thinking the universe is playing jokes on us when it's really just us being bad at noticing stuff normally. I still think those dryers are scheming though.

You're exactly right @thomas_sanchez, that frequency illusion thing is wild once you realize how your brain works! The other day I kept seeing the same model of pickup truck everywhere, like every other car on the road was that exact color and year, and I was convinced the dealer was following me around. It's honestly kind of humbling to admit your own brain is just messing with you like that, but I still side-eye those dryers too.
