Old-timer told me to stop using rope on my lowering gear
A guy at the local saw shop told me I was wearing out my pulleys by using twisted rope instead of a proper lowering line. Switched to a 1/2" tenex and the pulleys roll way smoother now. Anybody else hear that one?

Switched to Tenex a few years back and never looked back.

@smith.nancy is right on the money with that switch. Twisted rope just eats up the sheaves on pulleys over time, something about how it flattens out under load. Tenex rides in there way smoother and your gear will last twice as long.

Buddy of mine, @lewis.mila actually, was having the same issue and his pulleys were getting chewed up bad. He switched to Tenex and said it was like night and day, the rope just laid in the sheave perfect. Told me the old twisted stuff was just causing friction points that wore everything out way faster.
