Respectfully gotta disagree here. A little orange peel can actually help the finish bond and hide minor imperfections, at least in my experience. Sanding everything glass smooth just makes every tiny scratch or dust nib stand out way more.

Ngl, I used to be on the opposite side of this. I was all about wet sanding everything down to a mirror finish, thinking orange peel was just a sign of a bad job. But after a few projects where I went too smooth and ended up with a ton of visible dust nibs and scratches in the clear, I started to see your point. Honestly, a little texture really does hide those tiny mistakes way better. I tried leaving a bit of peel on a dark metallic blue last month and it came out way cleaner than my usual sanded finish. Tbh, you might have just saved me a bunch of future headache.
