Tried PPG vs Sherwin on a 2020 Honda Accord in Dayton - night and day
I finally compared PPG Envirobase side by side with Sherwin's AWX on a silver metallic bumper repair. The PPG laid down way smoother with less metallic mottling, had to do three coats with Sherwin to get even coverage. Has anyone else noticed that Sherwin just doesn't flow out as nice on pearls?

Right there with you, Sherwin can be stubborn on metallics.

Oh yeah, "stubborn on metallics" is the perfect way to put it. I had this whole thing last year where I tried to use one of their silver paints on a set of cabinets and it just would not level out no matter what I did. Ended up having to sand everything back and start over with a different product. Idk if it's the way the flakes settle or what, but it's such a pain when you think you're done and it looks all blotchy. Glad I'm not the only one who's been through that.

I mean, I get that metallic paints can be a pain, but is sanding everything back and starting over really that serious? I've used Sherwin metallics a few times and yeah they're finicky, but a decent clear coat over the blotchy spots usually fixes it. Feels like some of y'all are making it sound like a bigger deal than it is.
