Can we talk about torque sticks vs a good impact wrench for lug nuts
I watched a guy at a shop in Tulsa snap 3 studs on a Chevy because he trusted a worn torque stick that was way off. A $20 torque wrench and 30 seconds per wheel beats that every time, so why do so many places still skip the final hand torque?
My own torque wrench has been dropped so many times the case looks like it lost a fight with a lawn mower, so I get why shops trust the lazy way. Thing is, a torque stick that's been beat up reads wrong and studs pay the price, just like that Tulsa Chevy. Hand torque at the end costs almost nothing and saves a comeback, so skipping it is just bad math.
