I was sure my wire routing method was fine until a new guy pointed out the flaw

For months, I was bundling all the sensor wires for a nav system upgrade in one big loom, thinking it was neat. A tech who used to work on F-16s watched me for a minute and said, 'You're putting all your noise sources in one happy family.' He showed me how separating the power and signal lines by just a few inches on the tray cut the static by half on the bench test. Has anyone else had a simple routing fix solve a big interference headache?

That old NASA spec for Apollo wiring said to keep power and signal lines at least three inches apart.

Only three inches? That seems way too close. Would have expected at least a foot of separation.

Wow, I feel that same shock every time I see the actual numbers!

My old shop taught us to bundle everything tight for a clean look. I argued with a guy for an hour about it once. Seeing that bench test result with just a few inches of space made me shut up real fast. The proof was right there on the meter. Now I always leave a gap on the tray, even if the install looks a bit messier.
