I sat in on a call at a coworking spot in Sacramento last June and the guy running it flat out said warm referrals don't scale, so stop begging clients for them and put that energy into cold outreach. My friend who owns a 3 person print shop says 80 percent of his work comes from one guy he met at a chamber mixer in 2019, so he almost laughed when I repeated it. I get both sides: referrals are cheap but they dry up and cold outreach is a grind but it's repeatable. Where do you all land on this, and has anyone actually built a reliable pipeline off referrals alone past the 5 client mark?
