Finally tackled the Muir Pass vs. Kearsarge Pass decision on the JMT

Picked Kearsarge for the resupply at Onion Valley. Saved 2 days and my back didn't hate me. Anyone else skip Muir just to avoid that snow slog?

Man, my buddy took Muir and said the snow was brutal around Helen Lake...

Damn, that sucks. I remember hitting that stretch a couple years back and it was no joke, really hard to see the trail. Helen Lake can get nasty fast, one minute you're fine then you're postholing up to your knees. Hope your buddy had good layers and didn't get too chilled out there. That kind of snow can really zap your energy and ruin a day if you're not ready for it.
