Found a shortcut on the JMT that saved me 3 hours

I kept hitting the same slow stretch near Evolution Creek where the trail gets swampy and slow. Tried taking a higher route through the granite slabs about 200 yards east and it cut out all the mud. Anyone else find a faster line through that section?

Ugh that Evolution Creek swamp is the WORST. I feel your pain on that one, so glad you found a way around it.

Yeah sure, report it to the Forest Service. They'll get right on that between fighting fires and repairing bridges. Probably schedule the reroute for sometime in 2037. Meanwhile I'm just gonna keep bushwhacking through the poison oak like a real professional.

Has anyone actually checked if the trail crews rerouted that section yet, @juliarodriguez? Might be worth reporting to the Forest Service instead of just avoiding it.
