Walked 15 miles before I realized my pack straps were upside down
I was hiking the Eagle Creek trail in Oregon. Third time out with my new pack. Kept getting this weird pinch in my shoulders. Stopped to help a guy who dropped his map and he just stared at my straps. Said 'you know those are backwards right?' Looked down and yeah, the load lifters were pointing at the ground. Felt like an idiot for 20 miles.

Dude that's brutal but honestly stuff like this happens to the best of us. You think you've got everything figured out and then bam, reality check.

Man it's wild how we can stare at something for hours and just not see it. Reminds me of that thing where you're looking for your phone while holding it in your hand. Or when I put milk in the cupboard and cereal in the fridge. Happens when we're too focused on one thing and totally miss the obvious stuff staring us right in the face.

Hardware store rule number one: customers will walk past the thing they need three times before asking you where it is. Right in front of their face the whole time (or in their hand, apparently).
