Garden gate build from a flea market hinge set, 8 months later
Grabbed a set of rusty wrought iron hinges for $12 at a swap meet in Boise last spring. Cleaned them up with vinegar and a wire brush, then hung a cedar gate between two posts I dug with a manual auger. Took three weekends because I kept messing up the latch alignment, but finally got it to swing shut on its own. The hinges still creak a bit every morning, which I actually find kind of charming. Has anyone else salvaged old hardware and made it work, or am I just lucky?
