A coworker's take on Birdemic finally got me to give it a fair shot

I used to refuse re-watching Birdemic because the first 40 minutes felt like a boring office romance. Then last Friday my buddy Mike in accounting told me that slow start is the whole point, it makes the sudden bird attack feel unearned and hilarious. He pointed out how the director kept the same stiff acting through the chaos, so the movie accidentally becomes a weird satire of itself. I turned it on that night with that mindset and I was dying laughing at the car scene where they just throw the birds off the windshield. Has anyone else had a friend spin a bad movie in a way that made it click for you?
