My cousin walked out of The Room 20 minutes in, and I still bring it up at Thanksgiving
Two winters ago in Reno, my cousin Dave came over to watch movies and I put on The Room because I love it. He made it 20 minutes, stood up, and said "this is just bad, not funny bad" and went to play video games in the other room. I sat there alone with my soda and finished the whole thing, all 99 minutes, and laughed at every weird line. Here is my thing though: he is wrong, and not just wrong, but missing the whole point of why we watch these. Bad movies are not about the movie, they are about you and your friends yelling at the screen together. So my question is, how do you get someone to sit through the first 20 minutes when they are already reaching for their phone?
