Overheard a teen call Troll 2 a 'masterpiece' and I had to leave the room
Was at a coffee shop on 5th street last Tuesday and these two high school kids were talking about Troll 2 like it was some hidden gem they discovered. One said the popcorn scene was 'genuinely unsettling' and I nearly choked on my latte. It got me thinking, we all start somewhere with bad movies, right? I remember my first was The Room back in 2011 and I took it dead serious until my buddy pointed out the spoon pictures. Do you think people under 20 actually watch these ironically or do they just not know any better yet?

Laughing because I still remember bawling my eyes out at The Happening back in 2008, thinking it was a serious thriller about plants taking over the world. My roommate walked in during the "What's that? No, it's the wind" scene and just stared at me like I'd lost my mind. Took me another three years to realize Mark Wahlberg talking to a houseplant was not supposed to be Oscar material. These kids probably think ironic watching is a new thing they invented, but we all had our clueless phase. Honestly, I'm just jealous they get to discover the popcorn scene fresh instead of having it ruined by a thousand YouTube compilations.
