Pro tip: You don't need to pre-wash cast iron pans with soap, just salt and a rag

Watched my neighbor scrub his Lodge skillet with dish soap for 20 minutes last Sunday. Told him my grandpa's method from 1973 - kosher salt, a dry rag, and elbow grease. He looked at me like I had three heads. Three months later he texted me a photo of his perfect fried egg sliding around. Who else got pressured into using soap on these things?

1973 was a good year but grandpa probably didn't know teflon existed yet.

Wait, people didn't know about Teflon back then?

Oh gavin365 I hear you. It's easy to forget that some things we take for granted now were brand new back then.
